A Big Day Out

During the last week of a recent blockbuster exhibition in Brisbane, I visited the Gallery of Modern Art, just one more time.

European works were arranged in a mapped maze of rooms – a dream-like setting. Visitors threaded their way through five hundred years of art history.

Those carefully placed paintings, as well as an online phone guide, helped me focus my imagination and drift back in time, to wonder at the artists’ ways with colour and light.

Then, after a fresh-start coffee, I walked to the nearby Queensland Art Gallery to find this lustrous, awesome chandelier…

… shaped like a boomerang.

School kids, from a small town out west, posed to celebrate their arrival in our capital city. Their teacher was happy for me to capture this, too.
